How fantastic are these two? 
While working on a post about the Washington Square red-tailed hawks*, I came across this photo of two Great Horned Owlets at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge (Brooklyn-Queens) taken earlier this month.
Here is a lot more info (and a web cam in Savannah) about owlets, which are fledgling owls. (Who knew owlet was a term?)
