“Films on the Green,” presented by the French Embassy in conjunction with the New York City Parks Department, an annual event at the park, returns to Washington Square this summer for one night on Friday, July 16th with a presentation of the film, “Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.”
The event begins under the Arch at 8:30 p.m. Seating extends onto the Fountain Plaza. Masks and social distancing are expected. Free. The film is in French with English subtitles.
The Films on the Green festival skipped last summer due to the pandemic. It’s always been a big hit throughout its 13 year run.
The in-person schedule is scaled back this year. Parks presenting films in-person in July include Central Park, Washington Square Park, Seward Park, and Riverside Park. The schedule also includes five other films shown online; all can be watched virtually via info here or at this link. Anyone within a thirty-mile radius of New York City will be able to connect and watch at home free of charge.
