Photo of Laszlo and Lulu Collery of 125 Second Avenue who were trapped for days without food or water, getting checked up for trauma and smoke inhalation by Dr. Suzanne Paar and Veterinarian Assistant Chris at the Bideawee Animal Hospital, NYC, on Thursday.
Read their story and how rescue efforts need to be stepped up for the remaining animals here. A fire department chief found Laszlo in a bedroom closet and Lulu was found by Yvonne Collery two days later, this was after the ASPCA had told residents of 125 Second Avenue that “there’s absolutely no pets in the building.” Other animals remain missing.

A pretty tabby cat was found nearby and thought to be evacuated by the explosion. If not, this little one is going to need a home. Currently, at Animal Medical Center on the Upper East Side. Email: info@amcny.org The city shelter, the Animal Care & Control(ACC), is sadly high kill (many healthy, friendly, adoptable animals do not make it), and, ultimately, if this kitty is not from the site, she may end up there. Please consider throwing your name in for adoption!
I believe this is the same cat: found_cat_march_28th

Here is Yvonne’s terrific story in The Villager about the rescue of her cat Lazlo with photo by Bob Krasner. Incredibly touching.
Hi Amanda, thanks for the link! Yvonne wrote a great article (I put a link in the other day on a previous post but it deserves being mentioned again especially with this photo.). The photo is fantastic.
Thanks for commenting and linking it here with this photo of Laszlo and Lulu.
best,
