Curbed reports that Washington Square Park’s Northwest Quadrant – which includes the Fountain Plaza, under construction for oh-so-long, after much aligning – will reopen the second week of May! Can it be? Seems possible.
(Oh, and if you feel like commenting over there, I don’t know who those people are but they just don’t get it. I still love Curbed! Just some pieces really bring out the worst tendencies in people.)
Spread the love
As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I want to say how great the Park is looking. It’s gonna be terrific, so I hope that everyone is going to get behind it. I also love curbed.com, and the comments on the Park of there just show that no one has a majority stake on the Right solutions.
There are just as many people who like the new fountian placement as don’t; just as many people who like the more grass areas and bigger dog areas as don’t; just as many people who like that it will now be less friendly to slip-n-fall lawsuits as don’t; just as many people who like that it’s now better for handicapped people as… well… who wouldn’t? Curbed shows that there is a great diversity of ideas about the Park; and those who want change there do not care any less about the Park than those who don’t. I hope that we can all get together and stop hating and start relaxin’ & enjoyin’… soon.
The new fountain looks great! It looks the SAME!! Hooray!
Agreed! The fountain looks much better now and I’m glad the City still has the funds to rehab our parks.
