Plantings at the the NW Quadrant — Washington Square Park Conservancy, a new private group – which does not run or manage the park – with an already “murky” history, somehow inserted itself into the mix to “design” these corner “partiers” in the four quadrants of the park – they are way over the top and too tall, purposefully, which breaks up the whole dynamic of the space.
What should have transpired is that the private group, if deemed necessary, provides the $ and the Parks Department handles the design and planting which is what was done previously; that is not what happened here. This is another way this group works to imprint itself onto the park:
