Book Club Meeting at Washington Square: The Gotham Book Club is reading Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (2000) which sounds like a good book (it won a Pulitzer Prize). Have you read it? Coming up later this month August 31st.

(Maybe the private Conservancy ladies can join in?)

  1. You can see the panels from the most prominent uses of Washington Square Park in a Marvel comic book, Uncanny X-Men issue #105 from 1977, here:

X-Men writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum used to go to WSP and talk over plot ideas for upcoming stories, and when they planned a fight scene to take place in the neighborhood, Cockrum depicted the two of them right in the middle of the very scene happening around them as they were plotting it.
