Songbyrd, a new television series, filmed at Washington Square Park yesterday with actress Rumer Willis (Demi Moore & Bruce Willis’s daughter) and the cast and crew captured on the Fountain Plaza. The show is set to debut on the E! Network and is based on the life of mega-hit songwriter Diane Warren. Warren has written chart-topping songs such as “Because You Loved Me” (Celine Dion), “Un-break My Heart” (Toni Braxton), “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (Aerosmith) and many more!

Celebitchy – a celebrity site – ran the top and bottom photo and didn’t even identify the location as New York City or … specifically Washington Square Park! They thought the most interesting aspect was the “ombre” color of Willis’s hair. Hmph!?

In early December, it was reported that Andrew McCarthy was going to direct the show’s first episode – not sure if this was the very first. Although I think if McCarthy had been present, the celeb sites would certainly have caught that!

More about the show via Deadline.com:

In her first series regular role, Rumer Willis is set to co-star opposite Bethany Joy Lenz in one of E!’s first two scripted pilots, the Krista Vernoff/Diane Warren drama Songbyrd executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. It centers on Lauren Byrd (Lenz), a character loosely inspired by hitmaker Warren. Lauren, writer of hit love songs, employs a small staff, including her sister Mickey (Willis), to enable and manage her eccentric yet wildly successful process. Mickey is a smart, somewhat introverted young woman who is trying to figure out what’s next in her life after an “episode” forced her to drop out of law school. She now works for her sister, helping her keep her life together as she secretly works on her own singing and songwriting.
