Yes, it happened. As of this morning, North Eastern and South Eastern sections of Washington Square Park are closed (that is close to HALF the park) in preparation for Washington Square Park Redesign: Phase II. No signs anywhere indicating what’s going on — for those who don’t know, if they don’t, for example, read this blog (I’m sometimes astounded at the lack of communicating the New York City Parks Department chooses to do. I mean signage in advance would have been nice.) — you’d think they’d have at least one “Working to Improve Your Park” sign ready to prop up.
