Washington Square Park – NYC (Initial Blog Entry)

Trees that line the fountain – now gone.

Fountain – now dismantled.

Why do the City and the Mayor want to change every last thing that works (and people love) about this Park?

WSP Blog Note of Interest (March 5, ’09): A snippet of this photo comprises the masthead of the blog. I thought that snippet captured people using the park, the fountain, the Arch, the trees, the seating well, basically summing up the vitality and life of Washington Square Park, and what makes it ‘work.’ If only New York City government would give the same small amount of thought and intention to their project: the redesign of this famous, beloved park.
