The park will be closed off to the public all day until 5 p.m.
It would be hard not to know at this point that Senator Bernie Sanders is running for President on the Democratic Party line against Hillary Clinton. The New York Democratic Primary will be held on April 19th. The Washington Square Park Rally is a Get Out the Vote effort. In 2007, Presidential candidate Barack Obama held a rally in Washington Square Park.

Join Bernie Sanders for a Washington Square Park rally featuring Special Guests Vampire Weekend, Spike Lee, Rosario Dawson, Shailene Woodley, Linda Sarsour, Tim Robbins, and Graham Nash.
Music starts at 7:00 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
Tickets are not required, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
Admission is first come, first served.
General admission entrances located at SW and SE corners of the park.
For security reasons, please do not bring bags and limit what you bring to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security.
Public transit is encouraged. No public parking available on site.

Bathrooms at the park were not in place when above map was created. The rest rooms are located in a building near the Dog Run (above) but I would surmise that on-site facilities will be put in place.
