From the New York Times Spare Times:
‘Unsilent Night’ (Saturday) Phil Kline’s participatory music composition — a reliable holiday tradition at this point — has spread to more than 35 cities since its premiere more than 20 years ago. It returns to its flagship venue, Washington Square Park, for a performance in which audience members are given one of four tracks on a cassette, CD or digital file. On cue, participants turn on their music, creating an outdoor soundscape in a sort of New Age caroling party. At 7 p.m., Washington Square Park, Fifth Avenue and Waverly Place, Greenwich Village, unsilentnight.com; free.
