You may have seen The Strangers Project sign and activity at the park. These photos are from Friday night and Sunday and Brandon Doman who created the concept was there both times. People willingly stop by and respond to the sign that says, “Hi, I’m collecting your stories. Stop and share anonymously.” Brandon told me when he goes out collecting stories, 98% of the time he uses Washington Square Park as his base. He said, “I love that it’s the people that we share the space with every day and we don’t get a chance to hear their stories.”
On Friday, November 1st, the Strangers Project will showcase stories they’ve collected as well as gather new ones at the Stranger Than Fiction Exhibit. The opening will take place at The Fountain Gallery from 6-8 p.m. located at 702 Ninth Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets, Manhattan.
I told Brandon from The Strangers Project about the “How are You Doing?” Project started by Parson students who came through the park one day. Similar but different.
Look for The Strangers Project at the Park and share your story.
