Fountain Plaza Washington Square Park Late Summer 2019

The fountain plaza is another area in the park where the death of the trees around it continues to be an issue, creating somewhat of a corporate mall feeling, but the fountain itself – located at Washington Square Park since the 1870s, moved from its original central location in the park in 2009 during the controversial Bloomberg Administration redesign of this public space, at that time the structure was moved 22 feet east to “align” with the Arch at Fifth Avenue – is still a treat.
