At Long Last, Washington Square Park Redesign: Phase III Construction is (Almost Totally) Over | The “Mounds” Are Open! Park Comfort Stations (& NYPD) Building to Open Later this Week. More coming

As of yesterday, the fences came down signaling the long-awaited close to Washington Square Park Redesign construction after six years (except for the sidewalks, work on which will not begin until the summer). The “Mounds” are open and the Park-Comfort Station-Admin-Offices-NYPD building is unwrapped but not open yet.

More details to come shortly.

Spread the love

  1. One upside of the NYPD moving into the new pergola is the hope Washington Square South will finally be rid of the ugly NYPD trailer that’s been sitting out there all these years. I wouldn’t mind seeing that thing carted off once and for all…and then some attention given to improving the pavement on all four sides outside the park.

  2. Hi Richard,

That is true that it might be the only way to get rid of that NYPD trailer – “ugly” for sure – but being *in* the pergola 🙂 doesn’t seem like the perfect trade-off.

The sidewalks still have a wait but eventually will be completed!

    best,
    Cathryn
