Washington Square Park Redesign: Phase III Opening — RestRooms, “Mounds” — Still Delayed… but Almost There?

Admin Building/Bathrooms Now Visible From Afar – Covering on Fences Removed

The long-awaited building – above and below – of Washington Square Park Redesign: Phase III which replaces a few separate buildings (bathrooms and administrative and maintenance buildings were all separate red brick structures previously) will house community Parks’ district offices as well as the new restrooms. The architects who presented the original diagrams referred to this structure as a “pergola” – to me, it looks like a suburban train station.

The bathrooms were the item the community wanted repaired first but they were “saved” for last (well, at least they were done before the sidewalks – which are now scheduled for Summer 2014).
